Slam Poetry #1

The act of looking religiously
At something differently
And the belief that something different
Won't always be that way,
Won't always be the same thing
We saw once upon a dream
Or was it a nightmare.

Ask yourself to draw yourself,
In your mind without a mirror,
Look at those around you
If you wish to see it clearer.
Notice you are what you've become
With the people standing near you
And that time changes things
It has changed you
And it has changed me.

Pray to whatever you believe in
If you believe in something
Worth believing,
And pray that you are someone
Worth believing.
Take it in and trust the feeling
That you are more than just a breathing
Thing with no importance on this earth.
Believe that you can live,
Believe that you can change,
Everything around you,
Because you can.
