Childhood

Long ago I remember.
Before the trials and tribulations that is a life.
Before hell got hotter and became a reality.
It was fun back then.
We didn't worry about what happens to everyone, because we were not everyone.
We were children of God.
God doesn't hurt his children.
Or so we thought, until we grew up.
Older and older, questions got bolder,
Until we weren't sure why we were asking anything at all.
Then friends became enemies, and enemies became friends
We lost each other all together, and still haven't come back again.
I tried not to lose all of you, but I can't find you in this mist that is my world.
I never said goodbye, because I thought you would all be here.
But I realize my ignorance. So I say it now,
Goodbye my friends and foes,
Perhaps later on I'll meet you down the road.
Recognize me if you can, I'll do the same and we'll shake hands
And speak as if we never wandered our own paths...
Sometimes I wonder if our paths ever take us back.
Back to where it all began.
I know it won't be for quite awhile.
For God to show his children the homes they knew as a child.
