Looking back. Did it matter,
Is that what my epitaph
Will read?
When the tears become the lessons
You teach your children.
When the roads you took as a child
Have been torn apart by businessmen.
When the buildings scrape the sky
The way birds used to.
Did it matter?
Fighting for believes
Wars never solved
And we never agree after all
So in the aftermath we are left
Believing no one
Watching our breath
Freeze before it touches the face
Of a lover, that time has erased.
I found out the hard way
That it’s impossible to find.
The answer we always look for.
There is no quiz, no multiple choice answer
Because we all would guess
The letter C.
You see,
There will never be another me
And no one cares to see me anyway.
Because once my friends have left
So has my legacy.
Whatever legacy I had.
And the stars won’t even see me leave this world
They will be to busy watching other things.
Why do I lead an honest life,
If once I’m gone I’m free
Of any burden this cold world
Has pressed upon me.
It’s as if everything we’ve done.
Never has been.
Would you do it all again?
